Having your say on the Peak Cluster project proposal
The Peak Cluster project is still in its early stage of development and as of August 2026 it is still possible to have an input into the project.
The Peak Cluster CCS Pipeline is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). It requires a Development Consent Order (DCO) submitted to the UK Government's Planning Inspectorate, which will examine the application and issue a recommendation to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero for a final decision.
The next stage of the planning process will be the Phase 2 consultation which is expected to begin sometime towards the end of of 2026. You will be able to have your say about the project during this consultation and details of how you can do this will be made available on this website once Peak Cluster announces the details.
To have your say when the DCO reaches the pre examination phase (probably around September 2027) you will need to register as an interested party. More information on the progress of the application and to register your interest you need to visit the Planning Inspectorate project page website:
HM Government Planning Inspectorate Peak Cluster CCS Pipeline — Project information.
As of August 2026 this project is at the pre-application stage. The application is expected to be submitted September 2027. When the Planning Inspectorate receive the application, they have 28 days to decide whether to accept it for examination.
If the Planning Inspectorate accept the application, you will then be able to register to have your say and view all the application documents.
